The Ghana Education Service (GES) has closed down Nkwanta Senior High School because ethnic violence which led to the killing of three students.
Two females in the Form Two General Arts class and a male in the Form Three Business class met their untimely deaths on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
All three of the innocent students were caught up in stray bullets as the ethnic violence dragged on last week.
“The Ministry of Education is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of lives of two female day students through a shooting incident on Thursday, 26th June 2025, and a male student also hit by a stray bullet on Friday, 27th June 2025.
“The Ministry commiserates with all students, their families, staff of Nkwanta SHS, and everyone affected by these senseless acts of violence within the community,” read a statement by the Ministry of Education.
Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Education Minister, has commended the GES on its swift decision to close the school down amidst the senseless violence.
