Ghana, Nigeria wrap up WAFCON prep in feisty friendly

Date:

The Black Queens of Ghana fell to the Super Falcons of Nigeria in an international friendly in Lanoura, Morocco, on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

Both sides clashed in the preparational game ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which is set to begin on Saturday, July 5.

Chiwendu Iheazou’s deflected strike handed the former African champions the lead in the 34th minute before Oshoala increased their advantage 10 minutes later.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade added the third with a cool finish five minutes after the break before Ghana’s Evelyn Badu’s goal was ruled out for offside.

Ghana got one back two minutes from time courtesy of Alice Kusi from the spot. The Queens remained adventurous despite threats by the Falcons at their goal.
