Ten-man Bibiani Gold Stars won 1-0 against Hearts of Oak thanks to a goalkeeping gaffe from Sharif Shuaib. It was the team’s first-ever victory over the Accra heavyweights.
The young goalkeeper’s clearance in the 78th minute bounced off Amankwah Frank and kindly falling to the path of Mawuli Wayo to hand the away side a chance at the title.
Sharif Shuaib, who made an impression in goal for the Phobians, will be devastated that his harmless shot deflected off Amankwah Frank and found Mawuli Wayo, who scored the game’s lone goal with ease.
Goalie Ernest Kusi of the Gold Stars made a textbook save in the last seconds to deny the Phobians at least a point and put additional pressure on coach Abubakar Ouattara.
Hearts of Oak now sit 10th in the standings with 32 points after losing twice, drawing twice, and winning once in their last five games.
