Ghana vs. Sudan: Why CAF rejected Cape Coast, Sudan camping plans

The men’s senior national team of the Black Stars of Ghana will return to the Accra Sports Stadium as its new home venue for international matches, as reported earlier by Tony Bebli.

There were earlier reports that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has accepted Cape Coast Sports Stadium as the venue for Ghana’s 2025 AFCON qualifier against Sudan on Friday, October 11.

A credible source indicated that the Cape Coast Sports Stadium had not met the requirements of CAF.

Meanwhile, Sudan (where there is no ongoing league) contacted the clubs of their players who are scattered across the continent, and other parts of the world are expected in Accra a full week camping ahead of the big clash.

Still, Ghana, as a football “brand,” can and should be doing better when it comes to stadia and general maintenance of sports infrastructure.

We must reject mediocrity anytime it rears its ugly head. A little progress is not the same as success.
