Musical duo, DopeNation has described the country’s music space as a hypocritical one which is making the industry lose its true artists.
According to them, they have been battling lots of challenges which have even deterred them from filing for nominations in the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
Their statement followed comments made by DJ Slim on “The Street is Watching” podcast, which raised questions about their absence from this year’s TGMA.
It was asserted that the duo did not submit their works and had ignored attempts by the TGMA research team to contact them.
DopeNation in an X post hinted at some underlying challenges in the industry, making it difficult for them to engage in the awards scheme.
“We have been battling a lot that can’t be said out of respect for some people in this hypocritical music space,” they tweeted.
They further referenced past events, specifically dating back to 2021, suggesting that their decision was not impulsive.
“However, can we all recall from 2021? Maybe some of us will know this is not just about awards, sir. Gradually, this industry will be losing its ‘TRUE ARTISTS,’” they stated.
