GES Sends Stern Warning to Teachers

Date:

Accra — The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned teachers against abandoning their classrooms to engage in different activities such as participating in demonstrations, visiting the headquarters in Accra, or speaking to the media during official school hours.

Based on a press release issued by the GES on Monday, March 9, 2026, any teacher who faces a problem about the school should first report to the heads of the school and follow the proper administrative procedures.

“Teachers with concerns regarding any issue are required to first lodge such concerns with their Heads of School and subsequently escalate them through the District and Regional Directorates as appropriate,” the press release stated.

The GES also added that any teacher caught engaging in acts such as participating in demonstrations, visiting headquarters, or even speaking to the media during official school hours will be treated under “Absence from Duty” as established in the Code of Conduct.

The GES declared that the teaching profession is a noble one and must therefore uphold the highest standard of professionalism.
