Former SWAG President Ebo Quansah Dies

Date:

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has announced the passing of its former President, Ebo Quansah — a trailblazer in Ghanaian sports journalism who devoted decades to the profession.

Ebo Quansah served as SWAG President from 2001 to 2007, following earlier roles as Deputy Secretary and Secretary-General. Until his passing, he remained a Patron of the Association.

During his tenure, SWAG grew in influence, championing sports development, journalistic integrity, and the celebration of Ghanaian athletes. Quansah earned widespread admiration for his professionalism, commitment, and leadership.

In an official statement, SWAG described his impact as “unparalleled,” stating that he will be “deeply missed.”

Tributes continue to pour in from across the sporting and media landscape, with many describing him as a mentor and guiding light in the profession.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in consultation with his family in the coming days.
