Contact sports including football in Ghana was suspended in March due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
This caused the 2019/2020 football season to be truncated by FA.
However, the president gave special dispensation to the female under 17 and 20 national teams as well as the male under 17 to prepare for upcoming international assignments.
The president in his latest address on the gradual easing of restrictions on Covid-19 protocols has announced the return of football in Ghana.
“After due consultation with the Ghana Football Association it has been decided that the Ghana Premier Leagues and the Division One League would restart on Friday 30th October with full testing of players, technical and staff.”
He further added that there would be no spectators at the training grounds.
The president concluded that;
“Sitting at all stadia would be limited to only 25% capacity to ensure social distancing and wearing of masks by spectators would be mandatory”.
