FIFA Player Registration Ban for Accra Hearts of Oak

Date:

Accra Hearts of Oak have been slapped with a ban by the world football governing body, FIFA, over failure to settle financial obligations owed to Rene Hiddink.

In a letter dated 21 August 2025, FIFA’s Head of Disciplinary, Américo Espallargas, confirmed that despite earlier rulings, the Phobians had not complied with the decision requiring them to pay the outstanding debt.

As a result, the Accra-based giants are barred from registering any new players until the full amount due is paid, and the sanction will remain in effect for a maximum of three consecutive registration periods should the club fail to fulfil financial obligations.

FIFA further directed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to enforce the sanction at the national level immediately to prevent Hearts from processing new signings in the Ghana Premier League.

The ban could potentially derail plans of securing transfer targets ahead of the 2025/26 season unless the debt is cleared swiftly.
