Four months into his three-year contract with Ajax since joining from Sparta Rotterdam in June, Maurice Steijn has departed the club.
Due to their dismal start to the season, Ajax is currently second from last in the Eredivisie standings with only one victory in seven games.
After two meetings on Monday, Steijn and Ajax’s administration came to an agreement. Assistant coach Hedwiges Maduro will now serve as interim manager.
Under Steijn, who has also managed ADO Den Haag, VVV-Venlo, and NAC Breda, Ajax only managed to win two of their eleven games in all competitions.
