Renowned media personality, Berla Mundi, has lashed out at her fan who described her as “obolo tui” meaning chubby after she posted a picture of herself on social media.‎

The post, which was made on X by the presenter on Tuesday, November 4, showed her left hand when she went for a walk, “attempting to do 10,000 steps in an hour,” and was soliciting for motivational words from the public.

However, a user with his X name identified as @kwekunoom commented that “Now, you turn obolo tui.”

In a swift response from the TV3 presenter, Berla Mundi likened herself to his mother.
‎
‎”Yes, like your morda!” she replied.
‎
This had sparked a debate online about how some respected personalities in the media landscape shallowly exhibit their weaknesses online.
‎
As some believed that she had every right to express her feelings even as a renowned personality, others argued about how she dragged the innocent mother of the commenter into her issues with him.
‎
Her supposed weight gain followed speculations of her delivering her first child abroad.
‎
Even though Berla Mundi did not confirm or deny the rumours, her absence from TV3’s morning show as one of its main hosts fuelled the rumours.

She was subsequently reported to have delivered her child in May 2025 after photos of her without a baby bump surfaced online.
