The Black Galaxies recorded two impressive friendly victories on Wednesday as they intensified their preparations for next month’s 2024 CHAN qualifier against Nigeria.
Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani’s side triumphed 5-2 over Great Olympics before following it up with a 2-1 win against Attram De Visser at the University of Ghana Stadium.
In the first match, Hearts of Lions striker Mustapha Yakubu starred with a brace, while Issah Yakubu, Rahman Mohammed of Nsoatreman FC, and Saaka Dauda of Asante Kotoko all found the back of the net.
The second friendly saw Ghana U20 standout Jerry Afriyie score a brilliant overhead kick, and Hafiz Ibrahim added another goal to secure the 2-1 win over second-tier side Attram De Visser.
These matches are key to the Black Galaxies’ preparation for their TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 qualifiers against fierce rivals Nigeria.
The first leg is scheduled to take place in Ghana between December 20-22, 2024, with the return leg set for December 27-29, 2024, in Nigeria.
In the previous CHAN qualifiers, Ghana narrowly defeated Nigeria in a penalty shootout, heightening expectations for another intense two-legged contest.
The winner of this tie will secure a spot in CHAN 2024, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
