Renowned afrobeats singer Camidoh has called on Ghanaian women to forgive him for saying Nigerian women are open-minded.
According to him, his statement was not made out of malice but to express his admiration about certain acts portrayed by the Nigerian women.
The “Sugarcane” hitmaker apologized when he was made to elaborate on his comments that went haywire on social media.
He said his intention was not to demean Ghanaian ladies but to distinguish them from the Nigerian girls.
“I wasn’t necessarily insulting Ghanaian women… If this is how it came across, then I’m sorry because I love my people, I love my Ghanaian women, and they are supportive. I correct myself; pardon me,” he apologized.
It could be recalled that the singer on a podcast show, Rants, Bants, and Confession, stated that Nigerian women were more open-minded than their Ghanaian counterparts.
“Nigerian women are more exposed to whatever. It’s easy for a Nigerian woman to understand certain things a Ghanaian woman will not understand… There are topics that you talk about, and Ghanaian women will be like, eeeiiii, but Nigerian women understand, and they are abreast with whatever is happening in the world,” he said on the show.
The artist subsequently received backlash on social media for making such comparisons.
