Legendary Black Stars attacker Rev. Osei Kofi has described the appointment of Otto Addo by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as cursed.
The 1963 African Cup of Nations winner, Osei Kofi, lamented the ill-treatment of the sporting heroes of the land as the major reason why Ghana’s sports, especially the football discipline, has become a struggle.
He asserted on the Sports Pack show on Max FM that earning qualification for the FIFA World Cup is easier than for the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Bringing back Milo was a curse on Ghana. We brought back Otto Addo after he left at the end of the World Cup; now he failed to qualify us for AFCON. If Ghana fails to qualify for the World Cup, Otto Addo will be the main reason why,” he said to Nana Darkwa Gyasi in an interview.
Ghanaians have been hurt by recent ill performances by the Black Stars in continental or global tournaments, and this, according to Osei Kofi, is another reason why he believes the team is cursed.
With the team encouraged by GFA president Kurt Okraku and sports minister, Hon. Kofi Adams, to move on from the AFCON qualification disaster, many are hoping for improved performances against Chad and Madagascar in this round of qualifiers.
