Today, Thursday, August 5, 2024, marks exactly five years that former Black Stars striker Manuel Junior Agogo passed away in London, United Kingdom.
The late striker, who died at the age of 40, enjoyed a 15-year career before hanging his boots in 2012 while at Scottish side, Hibernian.
He joined Sheffield Wednesday’s junior teams in 1995 after emigrating to the United Kingdom with his family, but returned to complete Senior High School.
Agogo joined the Colorado Rapids in the MLS on-loan after graduating to the senior team of Sheffield Wednesday, then moved on to Barnet, Bristol Rovers, and Nottingham Forest.
No Ghanaian can ever forget the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Ghana, where the late striker imprinted his name on the hearts of many with his superb performances, helping Ghana win bronze on home soil.
Junior Agogo scored 12 goals in his 27 appearances for Ghana since he made his debut in 2006.
