Winfred Schaeffer, technical advisor for the Ghana Football Association, has charged every eligible player of Ghana to be proud to represent the country.
The seasoned football tactician noted the exceptional talents the country possesses across the globe.
Schaeffer shared his determination to have a blend of the internationally based players and local players, insisting having the best team to win is more crucial than having the best players.
“Ghana has very good players, very good players around in Europe, the local players, and the players born in Ghana who play in Europe. These three types of players we have to bring together. That’s very important. Not the best players win matches, but the best teams win matches, and when all play together.
And nobody should say I am from Real Madrid, I am from Arsenal, I am from this, or that. No, everybody has to be proud to wear the shirt of Ghana,” Schaeffer said.
He therefore advocated for respect for the players, and provide adequate resources to enable them to succeed.
“However, we have to work for the players. We give them respect, we help them with good training fields, and we help them with good pitches for football,” he added.
Since assuming his position as the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams continuous pledge is to ensure the appropriate structures are put in players to see to the success of not only the football discipline, but every other sporting discipline.
