The Ga Traditional Council, under the leadership of Ga Mantse and President King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has declared the commencement of this year’s drumming and noise-making ban, effective from Monday, May 6, through Thursday, June 6.
According to an official statement, all forms of noise-making within the Ga State are to cease during this period. This includes a halt to celebratory events and funeral ceremonies.
The council explicitly prohibits activities such as clapping of hands, tambourine use, and other musical instruments.
Moreover, the placement of loudspeakers outside places of worship is prohibited, along with roadside evangelism and the use of megaphones or other loud devices.
Funeral rites and associated activities are also banned during the designated timeframe and up to one week after the ban’s official conclusion on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
