Akon, the American music mogul and entrepreneur, has revealed one of the most popular African songs on his top ten (10) playlist.
On Thursday, February 24, during a Twitter Q&A session with social media influencer KalyJay, Akon, the multi-platinum selling and award-winning singer revealed that his current favorite song is “Sugarcane” by Ghanaian Afropop and Afrobeats artist, Camidoh.
In Akon’s remarks, he praised Camidoh for putting together such a masterpiece.
“I have heard that song [sugarcane]. that record is massive,” Akon said.
He added that “I have that record. it is one of my top ten records that I play every day.”
Camidoh also revealed that Akon influenced him to pursue a career in music. Listening to the award-winning artist, he claims, provided him with the motivation he needed to pursue a career in music.
“Sugarcane” is currently receiving an overwhelming reception from music lovers worldwide.
Phantom’s song was the number one song in Ghana in February 2022, according to Apple Music data. It was also recognized as Audiomack’s number one song and Boomplay Music’s number seven tune. It is presently at number seven in Shazam’s top 200 global afrobeats rankings.
