The National Sports Authority (NSA) has announced that the Accra Sports Stadium will not host the scheduled Ghana Premier League midweek fixture between Accra Hearts of Oak S.C. and Nations F.C. The decision follows a structural audit currently being conducted at the facility.
In a press release, the NSA revealed that it received an official request from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Friday, March 28, 2025, to host the match at the Accra Sports Stadium. However, after evaluating the necessary preparations and safety protocols required for a successful game, it became clear that hosting the fixture was not feasible at this time.
The NSA further stated that all other football matches, including the upcoming weekend fixture between Hearts of Oak and Medeama F.C., will only be sanctioned after the ongoing structural assessment is completed and recommendations are provided.
The Authority assured the public and stakeholders that updates will be provided on when the stadium will be available for football activities again.
This decision has raised concerns among fans and clubs who rely on the Accra Sports Stadium as a major venue for domestic league matches. The NSA’s commitment to ensuring the safety of players and spectators remains a top priority as it continues to assess the stadium’s structural integrity.
