TP Mazembe carry a valuable away victory as they head into a crunch return leg against Medeama SC.
The return legs of the first round of the preliminary stage of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League begin this coming weekend.
Ghanaian champions, Medeama Sporting Club, are facing a daunting task of overturning a 1-0 deficit at the home of the five-time African champions, TP Mazembe, on Saturday.
William Graham, the Communication Director for Medeama, has told Max FM’s Sports Pack show that the team is gunning to stage an upset.
With many concerned about TP Mazembe’s love for their artificial pitch, giving them an advantage, Medeama, through Mr Graham, insisted their players are Warriors.
In fact, he shared with the host, Nana Darkwa Gyasi, that the team will be training on an astro turf in Lubumbashi and also on their opponents’ home pitch ahead of the game.
“We are warriors. We are like the Spartans. We never give up,” he confidently said.
The game comes off on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 14h00.
