Ghanaian rapper-turned-singer Amerado has disclosed that he paid a DJ at a radio station in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region when he was an upcoming artist to prove to his colleagues that he was a star.
According to him, the incident happened in 2016, when he was working at a certain hospital at the place.
Speaking in an interview on the Max Morning Show in Accra on Wednesday, Amerado stated that he informed his colleagues at the health facility to listen to his song at the given time of the DJ.
“I paid payola to a DJ, but it is a long time ago. At that time, I was working in Kumasi in the year 2016. I paid a DJ Gh¢50 to play my song on radio for my colleagues to know that I am a Star,” he revealed.
Amerado said the DJ played as planned and all his colleagues listened to it, stressing that he felt the prestige once the song was played and everyone at the facility listened and commended him.
