More than a WIN— Cape Verde Makes History

Date:

At their debut FIFA World Cup competition, Cape Verde made history in Atalanta.

The exotic African country held tournament favorites, Spain, to a grueling goalless draw, thereby securing their first point at the first attempt.

Spain were tipped by many to hand Cape Verde a merciless hammering in front of millions watching around the globe.

Apart from their beautiful goddesses wearing the blue, red, and white jerseys in the stands, Cape Verde proved her son’s gallantry.

Spain’s head coach De La Fuentes can bark all he wants about the Africans’ game approach, but his multi-millionaires couldn’t matchup.

The one-time world champions finished the Group H round one tie with 73% of ball possession, 23 shots (8 on target), 92% pass accuracy, and surprisingly 10 fouls compared to Cape Verde’s 1.

This would be a match, Cape Verde’s 40-year-old goalkeeper Vozinha will never forget, shutting out the famous La Roja.
