Services at the Outpatient Department (OPD) have resumed effective today, May 5, 2026, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The Korle Bu Doctors Association (KODA) called for industrial action on Monday, May 4, 2026, following friction between them and the laboratory personnel at the Central Laboratory.
Following a meeting held on Monday morning, KODA announced that services would resume after guarantees were made by management of the hospital that there would be deployment of laboratory physicians to the central laboratory.
“We believe the peaceful coexistence of laboratory physicians and medical laboratory scientists at the Central Laboratory is best for quality healthcare delivery,” the statement, signed by Dr Asare Offei, chairman of KODA, read.
The resolution will come as a relief to thousands of patients who rely on the hospital’s outpatient services daily.
