‎Train autistic and children with special needs to be independent— Expert

Date:

‎The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Liztino Centre, a facility that trains parents on how to care for autistic children, Elizabeth Acquah Bertino, has called on parents to focus on helping children with special needs to be independent.

‎The move, she said, would help the child to take care of him or herself when the parents were no longer living.

‎Speaking in an exclusive interview on Max Novella Chat in Accra on Sunday, Bertino explained that bringing up a child with special needs to live on his or her own would help the parents for the child not to become a burden.

‎She maintained that children with special needs, when they are trained well, could work and build a life on their own.

‎Bertino noted that it was primitive to think children with special needs could not live an independent life and have no important role to play in life.
