Korle Bu Hospital Interdicts Staff Over Alleged Refusal of Emergency Care

Date:

Two doctors and two nurses have been placed under interdiction by Korle Bu Teaching Hospital’s management for allegedly refusing to offer emergency care to a 29-year-old engineer who passed away there.

Following growing public outrage over the circumstances surrounding the death of Charles Amissah, a Promasidor Ghana Limited employee, the decision was made and was announced in a statement issued on Monday, February 23, 2026.

On February 6, Amissah passed away from the injuries he suffered in a hit-and-run accident, following what witnesses say was a painful journey through Accra’s emergency medical system.

“In line with established administrative procedures, a committee has been constituted to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and the unfortunate death of the victim,” the statement from hospital management read.
