Algeria is determined to pursue the matter of the uncalled handball during the 2025 AFCON quarter-final game against Nigeria.
The Algerian Football Federation has officially filed a complaint with FIFA.
While the CAF has launched an investigation in the past few hours following the tense match between Algeria and Nigeria in the quarter-finals of CAN 2025, the Algerian federation counterattacked on Monday afternoon.
The federation has appealed to FIFA to rule on the uncalled handball incident during the match.
Below is a portion of their statement:
The Algerian Football Federation cannot ignore the refereeing decisions in the last match, which have raised questions and caused widespread dissatisfaction, as they have undermined the credibility of African refereeing and do not serve the image of African football on the international stage. As a result, the Algerian Football Federation has contacted the Confederation of African Football as well as the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) by filing an official complaint accompanied by a request to open an investigation in order to clarify the facts and take appropriate measures in accordance with current regulations.”, reads the official statement.
