Otto Addo, head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, has sang the praises of Gideon Mensah.
The France-based Ghanaian international, Mensah, had once been criticized by his national team coach.
Addo was, after the game against Mali in September, unimpressed by Mensah’s showing, asserting the player being over confident at times.
However, ahead of the final lap of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers against Comoros on Sunday, October 12, Addo stressed Mensah doesn’t get the flowers he deserves for the good things he does on the pitch.
“Gideon and all played very well. Sometimes you know there are surely situations, but we also forget sometimes the food things he does. For example the assist for Jordan [against the C.A.R],” he said to the press on Saturday.
Though many have been left unconvinced by Mensah’s performances, he is crucial first team player for France Ligue 1 club, AJ Auxerre.
