The Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has revealed the need of aviation experts to examine the Black Box of the Z9 helicopter that crashed on August 6, 2025.
With the Black Box already retrieved, the process to begin investigations into the crash is expected to begin soon to ascertain factors leading to the tragic crash.
The unfortunate Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash claimed the lives of former Defence Minister Dr Omane Boamah, former Environment and Technology Minister Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala, and 6 others, including two former ministers, a national security operative and three military officers.
“We are waiting on the experts and manufacturers, and a decision will be taken as to how it will be included in the investigation,” he said when the leadership of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) paid a courtesy call on him at his office at the Burma Camp.
The visit also included a discussion of methods to combat misinformation and disinformation about the helicopter crash.
