2025 BECE: Five Inmates from Kumasi Central Prisons Sit

Date:

As part of its ongoing reformation initiatives, Kumasi Central Prisons has presented five male inmates, aged between 20 and 25, to sit for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The candidates are writing at the Bantama Exam Centre.

During a visit to various BECE centres, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, encouraged the inmates and pledged support for their continued education, including assistance with WASSCE registration fees.

“Seeing these inmates write the BECE is a symbol of hope and a second chance,” he said.

The MCE also visited centres at Opoku Ware School, Adventist SHS, Asanteman SHS, and Serwaa Nyarko SHS, urging candidates to avoid exam malpractice and focus on shaping their future.

“Your destiny begins today. Take this exam seriously—it’s a stepping stone to your future,” Mr. Boadi advised.

In total, 120,285 pupils are sitting the BECE at 432 centres in the Ashanti Region, contributing to the national total of over 600,000 candidates.
