Retired Supreme Court Judge Sule Gbadegbe Dies at 74

Date:

Justice N.S. Gbadegbe, who served with distinction on Ghana’s Supreme Court, is being remembered as a principled and dedicated jurist following news of his passing.

He was among the panel of nine judges who presided over the landmark 2012/2013 election petition, a role that highlighted his deep respect for legal procedure and unwavering commitment to ethical standards.

Colleagues who served with him speak of a man who held the legal profession to the highest ideals, insisting that both lawyers and judges maintain integrity in all their dealings.

At his retirement ceremony in December 2020, then Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah praised Justice Gbadegbe’s devotion to duty, stating, “His service to the country has been long and committed. He has brought a fire that cannot be quenched.”

With over three decades of service to the nation, Justice Gbadegbe leaves behind a legacy of fairness, discipline, and service to justice.

May his soul rest in peace.
