Multimedia Group Limited(MGL) and the Ghanaian entertainment industry is grieving the unexpected passing of renowned disc jockey, DJ Awana, born Samuel Nartey. The sad news broke on April 6, 2025, prompting an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans, and public figures.
Nana Poku Ashis, manager of highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena, paid a moving tribute, describing DJ Awana’s immense impact on the music scene. Media personalities such as Nana Yaa Konadu Yiadom, Ohemaa Woyeje, and DJ Ashmen also expressed their sorrow and shared memories of his vibrant presence and professional excellence.

DJ Awana began his career at Tema-based Adom FM in 2003, where he quickly became a standout figure. He later joined Oman FM in 2007 before returning to the Multimedia Group to work with Hitz FM. Known for his signature jingle, “3y3 Awana nie oo,” he built a strong identity that resonated deeply with his audience.
