VRA CEO Embarks on Debt Recovery Drive

Date:

The new Chief Executive Officer of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Ing. Edward Obeng Kenzo, has launched a strategic initiative to recover outstanding debts owed to the authority.

This move aims to strengthen VRA’s financial position and enhance its operational efficiency as Ghana’s leading energy provider.

As part of the VRA CEO’s debt recovery agenda, Ing. Obeng Kenzo has been actively engaging both local and international partners to ensure full repayment of debts owed the institution. His proactive approach underscores a renewed focus on financial discipline and sustainable growth.

Since assuming office, Ing. Kenzo has prioritized operational improvement and long-term strategic planning to maintain consistent energy production and meet Ghana’s growing power needs.

VRA’s growth trajectory has already shown strong signs of progress. According to the 2022 Auditor General’s Report:

  • VRA recorded a profit of GH¢110.89 million in 2022, following a GH¢112.76 million profit in 2021.

  • The Authority’s total income rose by 34%, from GH¢4.199 billion in 2021 to GH¢5.628 billion in 2022.

  • This growth was largely driven by a 38.7% increase in revenue from power sales.

The VRA under Ing. Kenzo is committed to solidifying its position as a financially sound and operationally resilient institution.
