Ghana’s first female Vice President Opoku-Agyemang makes history

The first-ever female vice president of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has once again attained a historical feat.

Her Excellency Prof. Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has been named Chair of the Armed Forces Council. She becomes the first-ever woman to lead the Council.

The Council is to provide policy direction and oversee administrative activities to ensure the military’s efficiency, adherence to democratic principles, and accountability to the civilian government.

Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, Daniel Addo, Fuseini Iddrisu, and Nancy Dakwa Ampofo make up the rest of the council.

The council will counsel the President of the Republic of Ghana on national defence matters.
