KOTOKO NEWS: Amos Frimpong Returns to Asante Kotoko

Date:

Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC has warmly welcomed former captain Amos Frimpong back into the fold, this time as part of its management team. Frimpong, who served the club with distinction during his playing days, will now assume dual roles as Deputy Welfare Officer and Youth Team Manager.

The Ghana Premier League giants confirmed his appointment via an official announcement on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, November 15.

“We are pleased to announce that former captain Amos Frimpong has returned to the club to serve in the capacity as Deputy Welfare Officer and Team Manager for our youth team,” the club’s statement read.

Frimpong’s return signals a strategic move by Kotoko to leverage the experience and dedication of former players in its ongoing bid to strengthen the club’s foundation. Known for his leadership qualities on and off the pitch, Frimpong is expected to play a pivotal role in the welfare of players and the development of the next generation of Kotoko stars.

In an interview following his appointment, Frimpong expressed his gratitude and excitement. “It’s an honor to be back home in a different capacity. Asante Kotoko has always been a part of me, and I am eager to contribute to the welfare of the players and help groom young talents to uphold the legacy of this great club,” he stated.

The appointment also reflects a broader restructuring of Kotoko’s management framework. Alongside Frimpong’s new roles, the club has announced adjustments to its Interim Management Committee (IMC), signaling its commitment to improving both administrative and sporting operations.

Kotoko fans have welcomed the news, seeing it as a positive step toward building a stronger connection between the club’s storied past and its promising future. Samuel Ofori, a passionate supporter, commented, “Amos Frimpong knows the club inside out, and his return is a great addition. We hope this inspires the youth team and strengthens the entire organization.”

With this move, Asante Kotoko continues its tradition of nurturing not only players but also leaders who can shape its future success. Frimpong’s vast experience as a former captain makes him uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between the club’s storied heritage and its ambitions for the future.
