‘The end is near’ – Messi

Date:

Argentina captain Lionel Messi has admitted that he is approaching the end of his career as a professional footballer.

Messi is currently the player that has won the most trophies in football history.

The Inter Miami forward is at the tail end of his illustrious football career.

Speaking to Marca on Thursday, the 37-year-old, who has won 45 trophies in his career so far, also insisted that Argentina and Barcelona are his home.

“The end is near and I’m enjoying and valuing every moment as maximum as possible,” Messi said.

Argentina and Barcelona are my home. Today I am also in a place where I feel very happy, a new stage in my life.”

Messi, who won the last editions of both the FIFA World Cup and the Copa America, has played for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in the past.

He has won eight Ballon d’Or awards.
