St. Mary’s Senior High School Launches 75th Anniversary

Date:

St. Mary’s Senior High School, Accra, and its alumni association, SMOGANS, launched the school’s 75th anniversary celebrations in grand style on Saturday, 21st September 2024.

The vibrant ceremony, themed “Empowering Minds, Shaping Futures: 75 Years of Girl Child Education in Truth and Virtue,” drew hundreds of old students, staff, current students, and distinguished guests to the school’s Korle-Gonno premises.

The premier girls’ institution has been a beacon of excellence, producing exceptional women who have made significant contributions nationally and internationally. This milestone marks the school’s unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of truth, virtue, and academic excellence.

Dr. Mary Anane-Mensah, an esteemed SMOGAN, chaired the event, while Ayesha Bedwei Ibe, Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, delivered the keynote address. The day’s highlight was the official handing over of a state-of-the-art library complex by SMOGANS to the school.

Distinguished guests, including Justice George A. Ampiah-Bonney, Rev. Rita Korankye-Ankrah, and representatives from the Ghana Education Service, attended the launch. The ceremony provided an opportunity for reflection, reconnection, and planning.

The year-long celebrations will include mentorship programs, educational seminars, health screenings, and outreach projects. These initiatives aim to inspire and support current students and the wider community.

St. Mary’s Senior High School, its alumni, and well-wishers remain committed to the motto “VERITAS, VERITUS”—Truth and Virtue—as they embark on another 75 years of excellence and shaping future leaders.
