Legendary Highlife musician, Ofori Amponsah and the rising Hiplife artiste, King Paluta are to headline the 10th edition of the 2024 GhanaFest South Africa (SA).
This annual event themed “Forward Ever” will take place at Fountains Valley in Pretoria, South Africa on September 14.
Apart from Ofori Amponsah and King Paluta, traditional dancers including DJ Shadow, and the Sankofa International Band would project the heritages of Ghana and South Africa, while continuing to foster unity and collaboration between the two countries.
According to the organizers, the event would also be graced by celebrated kings and queens from the various tribes of Ghana, like the Ashanti Kingdom, Dagomba and Nzema to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the country.
“This tribute to Ghanaian royalty offers attendees a unique opportunity to learn about and celebrate Ghana’s cultural heritage. Additionally, the festival will feature live entertainment for children, making it a family-friendly event,” they added.
The 10th edition, the organizers said, was more than just a festival, as it would celebrate the unity, diversity, and cultural heritage of the Ghanaian diaspora and their South African hosts.
“It is an opportunity to honour the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to a future of continued cultural exchange and mutual respect,” they said.
Over the past nine years, GhanaFest SA has hosted unforgettable moments and esteemed guests, including renowned artistes like Guru, Okyeame Kwame, Edem, Mzbel, Bisa Kdei, Sydney, and Obrafour.
The festival has also been honored by various Ghanaian high commissioners and ambassadors, underscoring its cultural and diplomatic significance.
