Highlife music is dying out due to trolls – Dada Hafco

Date:

Renowned singer Dada Hafco has called on Ghanaians to desist from trolling young musicians who are singing high-life songs.

According to him, many talented artists have shied away from singing highlife songs due to how they are being mocked by the public.

Dada Hafco told the media that some Ghanaians regarded highlife music as old-time and failed to support musicians who genuinely wanted to sing highlife songs.

Using himself as an example, he said he had been trolled on so many platforms and had been described by some people as a “villager” for singing highlife.

Dada Hafco also proposed to the organizers of the Ghana Music Awards (GMA) to make the Highlife Song of the Year category the highest award of the scheme to whip up musicians’ interest in doing highlife.

“I believe that the TGMA platform is one that people will malign and say all sorts of stuff about, but it is a place where facts are established. If the TGMA comes to say this year the person who wins the ultimate is the one who wins the highlife song of the year, do you know how many people who would want to win the ultimate award? Do you know the number of people who will start trumpeting the highlife agenda?” he queried.
