Ghana’s biggest marathon, the FNB Accra Marathon, promises to be more exciting and memorable than ever before this year.

The longstanding Dansoman Keepfit Club (DKFC) will organise the marathon, now in its 35th edition, on Saturday, November 14, 2026.

Mr Benjamin Ahulu, Chairman of the DKFC, announced the return of the 42-kilometre run (full marathon) as both start and finishing points of the entire event have been changed.

Mr Ahulu asserts that the reason for the change is to extend the marathon beyond Dansoman and its neighbouring streets to other areas of the capital.

He was speaking at the 2026 Great Walk, organised by the DKFC, where hundreds of participants walked through the streets of Dansoman, Mataheko, Lartebiorkoshie, and Banana Inn to usher in the biggest running event in West Africa.

The starting point of the marathon will be at the Independence Square. Runners will pass by the Osu Cemetery, then the Ridge Hospital, then the Nima Highway to the 37 Military Hospital, to Airport streets then to East Legon, Abedi Pele to American House, the flowerpot flyover, and Spintex Road through to the Teshie Kofi Annan streets to Labadi, Osu and back to where it all began.

Every athlete that manages to finish the race will receive medals, while the top finishers take over the ultimate prizes, making the marathon extremely exciting and more attractive to the up to 5,000 athletes expected to participate.
