African parents don’t support talents – Ara Bella

Date:

Fast-rising singer, Ara Bella has expressed concern about how African parents are doing little to support their children, who are talented in singing and dancing.

According to her, African parents seem to find such kids odd and unserious to raise.

Expressing her dissatisfaction about the act of such parents in an interview with Max Morning Show in Accra on Friday, the budding songstress said she was not spared from such treatment when she discovered her musical talent.

She said she was raised to be a media practitioner after schooling at the Ghana Institute of Journalism and gaining a corporate job with one of the leading telecommunications networks in Ghana. It was hard for her to switch to being a fully fledged musician.

Ara Bella recalled that her father dissuaded her from embracing her musical career and was ready to pay for her to enroll in nursing training if she was getting bored with her corporate job.

She further stated that singing secular music and the extreme exposure of some part of her body to the music visuals jeopardized her position as a chorister and underscored the need for Africans to shape their thoughts.

Ara Bella urged African parents to support and unearth the talents of their wards regardless, just like whites support talents.

“It shouldn’t always be about white-collar jobs. Everything is about talents, irrespective of whether they are dancing or singing. African parents should support the talents of their children and also have respect for their talents,” she added.
