5- highest paid female footballers in the world

Date:

Women’s football has seen significant growth over the past decade, yet its financial landscape still pales in comparison to the men’s game.

While TV rights deals and spectator interest generate far more revenue in men’s football, women’s soccer is gradually attracting more attention and funding.

Cristiano Ronaldo, per Forbes, was the highest-paid footballer in 2023, earning an astonishing annual salary of over €200 million at Al-Nassr. In contrast, the women’s game, though growing, lags behind financially. Ronaldo’s earnings dwarf those of the highest-paid female footballer, Alex Morgan, whose salary is $0.8 million per year. Nevertheless, Morgan’s total annual income reaches $7.1 million when including her $6.3 million in off-field revenue, per Statista’s 2023 report.

Two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas is the second highest-paid player in women’s football,

surpassing Megan Rapinoe following the American’s retirement in 2023.
