#Euro2024: Nine young stars to watch at Euros

Date:

The 2024 European Championship kicks off on Friday, June 14, 2024 when host nation, Germany takes on Steve Clarke’s Scotland at the Allianz Arena at 7 p.m.

Florian Wirtz, Germany

Wirtz, 21, enjoyed a stellar season with Bayer Leverkusen as they ended as invincibles, winning the double with Xabi Alonso’s side.

Nico Williams, Spain

The young Spaniard, thanks to his performances this season with Atletic Bilbao, has Europe’s top clubs pursuing him.

Benjamin Sesko, Slovenia

Despite interests from the Premier League’s top clubs, Sesko opted for one more season at RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga and will be hoping to cause upsets with Slovenia at the Euros.

Erasmus Hojlund, Denmark

The expensive Manchester United striker has yet to live up to his £72 million price tag since transferring from Atalanta just before the 2023–24 season, but the Euros might be where everyone will get to see why he is highly rated by Erik Ten Hag.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Georgia

Napoli’s top winger will be proudly representing the humble nation of Georgia at the Euros. He endured a difficult season with the former Italian champions.

Xavi Simmons, Netherlands

RB Leipzig’s 21-year-old will be leading the Dutch from the midfield in Germany. He enjoyed a productive season in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League, where they lost to Real Madrid in the round of 16.

Joao Neves, Portugal

The 19-year-old plays ahead of his age for Benfica and is already being contacted by Manchester United and Bayern Munich for a potential summer transfer.

Phil Foden, England

Phil Foden finished the season in the Premier League yet again and was named player of the season. Fans will be eager to see how impactful he will be for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions at the Euros.

Mykhailo Mudryk, Ukraine

The highly rated Ukrainian star had a good season ending with Chelsea and hopes to replicate the form at the Euros.
