#OverSpeedingKills: Limit vehicular speed during Easter – National Road Safety Authority

The Public Relations Officer for the National Road Safety Authority, Pearl Adasu Sateckla, has said limiting vehicular speed minimizes accidents leading to deaths and injuries.

The National Road Safety Authority is focused on overspeeding since the death rate in recent years has risen.

Sateckla emphasized that ensuring road safety is everyone’s responsibility, while urging the government to install proper street lighting to improve visibility and reduce accidents.

She cited the current ordeal of comedian and musician Funny Face, who rammed down and injured four people on Sunday, March 24, 2024, as one of the examples of overspeeding in areas with low visibility at night.

“I will plead with drivers to take note of some key factors. It will help drivers stop overspeeding and avoid accidents. Funnyface almost killed four people on the road because he wasn’t able to control the speeding level.”

She further went on to state that the Authority  will be adding enforcement to their education this Easter, and the police will monitor and detect with cameras from a distance so that when one is caught speeding, they will face the law. Convoys are exempt from the road traffic regulations.
