Charles Osei Asibey, the President of the Africa Armwrestling Federation, has issued a strong warning ahead of the start of the 13th African Games, which will take place in Accra, Ghana.
The president, who is also the vice president of the World Armwrestling Federation, claims that because the opening ceremony is being “prioritized” above other important matters, the athletes from Ghana have not been able to assess the tracks and other facilities.
“I want to talk to the Minister (MoYS). I am not happy with certain things going on as we speak, and it is dangerous for us as a nation; otherwise, the efforts made by the nation would be null.
We are prioritizing the opening ceremony over very key things within the games. Joy News or Joy Prime broadcasted certain images that have brought me sleepless nights, and whoever is behind this, using a key platform to override things we must do, should be careful,” Osei Asibey said in an interview with max.com.gh.
Team Ghana has been in camp preparing for the Games, but they have not yet tested the facilities to be certified—the handball court at Borteyman Sports Complex being the only one—with just nine days to go till the Games begin.
