#MaxEntertainment: Ama K. Abebrese appointed the first female IOM Goodwill Ambassador

Date:

Ghanaian-British actress Ama K. Abebrese has been appointed as the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) first-ever female Goodwill Ambassador.

At the same time, IOM renewed its contract with musician Kofi Kinaata, who has been the Goodwill Ambassador since 2017, to reaffirm his commitment to migration and the well-being of migrants.

The announcement was part of IOM’s global appointment of nine new IOM Goodwill Ambassadors across the world.

According to a statement issued by the IOM Ghana Chief of Mission, Fatou Diallo Ndiaye, the nine IOM Goodwill appointees included artists, musicians, and athletes, among many other personalities.

“We are honored to be joined by Ama K. Abebrese as our first female Goodwill Ambassador and grateful to Kofi Kinaata for his continued commitment toward migrants and Ghanaian youth. I am looking forward to bringing this partnership to life,” it said.

The Fante singer, who has been the Goodwill Ambassador for seven years, used his platform to raise awareness of safe migration pathways and dangers linked to irregular migration, as well as promote opportunities in Ghana to reach the youth.

He also released two songs to create awareness on safe migration during International Migrant Day, while Ama K. Abebrese, who was raised in a migrant family as a change-maker in Ghanaian society at home and in the diaspora, is believed by IOM to be a good face to raise awareness on safe migration.

The partnership with the two personalities, according to IOM, was a meaningful step, highlighting its commitment to impactful advocacy, specifically targeted at Ghanaian youth.
