Cook-a-thon: Chef Faila ends world record attempt after 227 hours

Date:

Failatu Abdul Razak, a restauranteur, has officially ended her cooking marathon, which started on Sunday, January 1, to usher Ghanaians into the new year with delicious delicacies.

She cooked her way into the Guinness World Record (GWR) books for the longest culinary marathon after 10 days of non-stop cooking.

With a staggering 227 hours under her belt, she has comfortably surpassed the current record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who won by cooking for 119 hours and 57 minutes, though official confirmation from Guinness World Records is still pending.

Chef Faila has cooked more than 100 meals, mainly local Ghanaian and Continental dishes.

She was initially aiming to end her ambitious journey on the morning of January 5th after starting it at midnight on New Year’s Eve, but her adventure, fuelled by her unwavering tenacity and kitchen prowess, pushed through, extending the marathon to January 10th.

Chef Faila earned wide admiration from many for her zeal for projecting the Northern culture and setting an enviable record that will put her name and Ghana on the map.

The illustrious names that graced the event at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale included Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, the former First Lady, Lordina Mahama, and the former Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu.
