MAX EPL 2023/24: EPL matchday six round-up

Date:

Chelsea 0:1 Aston Villa

Aston Villa defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in a matchup of the two teams. Following the dismissal of Malo Gusto for the Blues, Ollie Watkins scored on the break.

Since Potter’s departure, Chelsea has only won twice in the league: once under interim coach Frank Lampard and once under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Sheffield United 0:8 Newcastle United

Newcastle United defeated Sheffield United with the help of eight different goal scorers. Before Callum Wilson, Anthony Gordon, Miguel Almiron, Bruno Guimares, and Alexander Isak added insult to injury for an already distraught Sheffield United in the second half, Sean Longstaff, Dan Burn, and Sven Botman gave the Magpies a 0-3 lead in the first half.

Brighton 3:1 Bournemouth

Brighton overcame its Euro setback thanks to a second-half double from Kaoru Mitoma. Bart Verbruggen, Brighton’s goalkeeper, had given Solanke an easy opportunity to give his side the lead. Milos Kerkez’s own goal for Brighton brought the score even.

Liverpool 3:1 West Ham

Liverpool defeated West Ham easily, moving them into second place. Salah opened the scoring with a penalty, while Jarrod Bowen later tied the score.
Goals from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota ensured the Irons were no threat to the Merseyside giants.

Manchester City 2:0 Nottingham Forest

Manchester City defeated Nottingham Forest to make it six victories in a row. The reigning champions scored two goals, one each from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland. Despite Rodri being dismissed early in the second half, City still won.

Brentford 1:3 Everton

Abdoulaye Doucoure was immense, scoring his seventh goal in his last 16 league games as captain James Tarkowski, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored to hand Everton a much-needed win.

Burnley 0:1 Manchester United

Burnley lost 1-0 to Manchester United, leaving them winless in the league so far this year.

Arsenal 2:2 Tottenham

Son Heung-min responded to a Cristian Romero own goal that was forced by Bukayo Saka and a penalty that Romero gave up to Saka with two equalizers.
