MAX GPL: We will learn from Kotoku Royals failures – Frimpong Manso

Date:

The newly appointed head coach for Bofoakwa Tano, Frimpong Manso, has assured fans of the club that he and his technical team will learn from the misfortunes of the recently relegated Akyem Kotoku Royals after they failed to remain in the BetPawa Premier League after just one season in it.

Bofoakwa Tano is set to play in the BetPawa Premier League in the 2023–24 season after they sealed qualification to the topflight after beating regional rivals Eleven Wonders in the National Division One Zone One playoff at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the Brong Club making their intentions clear to remain in the league for the foreseeable future.

The Brong-based outfit on Monday announced the appointment of Frimpong Manso as the club’s new head coach for the upcoming league season, with the new gaffer describing his appointment as “Surprising”.

In an exclusive interview with Max FM, Frimpong Manso gave the club’s supporters the reassurance that they would not be demoted immediately after achieving qualification. Instead, they would learn from previously relegated teams like Kotoku Royals and Tamale City in an effort to stay up.

“We are not thinking of going out of the league too soon. We want to stay for one season, then gradually establish ourselves. We all saw what happened to Kotoku Royals that got them relegated at the end, changing home venues throughout the season and before they realized they had been relegated”, Frimpong Manso told Max FM.

The Bofoakwa boss added, “We hope Kotoku Royals’ misfortunes serve as a lesson to us.”

Bofoakwa Tano will be hoping their 13-year absence from the topflight will serve as enough motivation for them as they begin the 2023–24 league campaign on the 20th of September, 2023.
