BLACK STARS: GFA approached me – Alphonse Davies (VIDEO)

Date:

Canadian international football star Alphonse Davis has disclosed the Ghana Football Association attempted to poach him for the Black Stars.

Born to Liberian parents in the Buduburam camp in Accra after they fled the civil war, Davies and his family moved to Canada when he was just five years of age.

The Bayern Munich star revealed in an interview the GFA tried to persuade him to represent his country of birth after his move to Bayern Munich was announced but already had his made mind up to play for Canada: “No, Ghana never reached out and also my mother was like, nah. I wasn’t a big name I think when the news came out that I was going to Bayern, then I got a message from the Ghana federation. I think it was someone on a federation who texted me on Instagram because they didn’t have my number, they didn’t have like e-mail or something but it was too late at that time, I already got my citizenship, already made it Canada,” he said.

Alphonse Davies has gone on to be a household name in Canadian football, making 39 appearances and scoring 13 goals.
