Team Ghana Athletes and Coaches receive Tokyo 2020 Package from Sports Minister on behalf of President Akuffo Addo

Date:

Minister of Youth & Sports Hon Mustapha Ussif has presented cash and a brand new vehicle to members of Ghana’s 2020 Olympic Games team.

The Minister presented the athletes and coaches with a total package of $150,000 following Ghana’s participation at the summer Olympics in Japan.

It would be recalled that President Akufo Addo on 20th August 2021, pledged to reward Team Ghana for their performance.

Amateur boxer Samuel Takyi, led the honours for the Black Bombers boxing team when he won a bronze medal for Ghana; the first time for the country since the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.

Takyi was given a combined package worth $50,000. The breakdown is made up of the cedi equivalent of $10,000, a brand new Nissan Sunny Car worth $20,000 and a further $20,000 for his boxing career development.

GOC President Ben Nunoo Mensah acknowledged the motivational gesture of the President through the Sports Minister and assured that the Olympic Committee that he leads would do all it can to build upon the relative success and strides made at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
